It is my belief that I study Karate rather just train in Karate. I find the history of karate from Buddhist monks in Northern India in 500 AD, to their migration to China and via Okinawa to Japan in the early 19th Century is a fascinating journey. Its mental challenges outweigh any physical development but one most follow the other in a perpetual circle. If I can listen then I can learn, if I learn then I can teach, if I teach then I can begin to understand. With understanding comes knowledge and the cycle of learning starts again. One of the most rewarding aspects of training with and being guided by Sense Chris and Sensei Katie is their complete devotion to all of our students. Seeing young people develop physically, emotionally and mentally in our academy is a wonderful experience for which I am very grateful to be a part of and enjoy. I encourage my students to be the best they can be and don’t aspire to be better than someone else. The greatest opponent they will ever face is themselves. To be faster, stronger, better than they were the last time they trained should be their goal. I am very glad to be on the journey with Sensei Chris and Sensei Katie.
