SKA ENGLAND - IMPORTANT - CoronaVirus - ANNOUNCEMENT

We at the SKA England take the safety and well-being of our students and their families very seriously and, in the midst of this terrible Coronavirus outbreak, and taking into account the latest Government advice, we have taken the decision to suspend all classes at all of our Dojo with immediate effect. 


Our current intention is to reopen in the week commencing the 16th April 2020 but further updates will be circulated with regards to that in due course. We wish all our students well in these difficult times.


Watch this space for videos for you to train with at home and improve with; Karate never ends it just takes a bit of adjustment to keep progressing.

Hello, welcome to the home of the Shukokai Karate Academy one of the most successful Shukokai Karate Academy's in the UK. We are a family run Karate organisation in Kent, England. Our Federation is affiliated to the English Karate Federation and therefore the WKF World Karate Federation. Our students are some of the most respectful and dedicated students you will come across. We have Dojo at Kingswood, Maidstone YMCA, Lenham, Marden, Downswood, Sutton Valance and the New Line Learning Academy Maidstone. You will be welcomed into our association with a free taster lesson and then sent details via email as to how to join. Lessons are spread across 6 days a week and students may attend any lessons that is appropriate for their age and grade. At the SKA we pride ourselves in the Traditional Karate we teach alongside the Sport Karate side too, implemented to test our technique at tournaments. Our association is growing month by month and we are extremely proud of our ethos. DREAM "Discipline, Respect, Ethos, Ambition, Motivation".


We, as Chief Instructors, are extremely proud of every single one of the students within the SKA and their commitment and determination to succeed.

The Shukokai Karate Academy previously Kent Karate (2007-2018) has been established since October 2018. Sensei Chris, Sensei Katie, Sensei Steve and Sensei Maria took the association to the next level by becoming full members of the EKF, giving their students exciting new opportunities within the English Karate Federation and beyond. 


Here at the Shukokai Karate Academy we believe in the true Martial Art, we teach Basics, Kata, Kumite, Impact and Fitness. We embed discipline, dedication, respect and focus. Teaching students from the age of 4yrs to adults, we make sure that all our students are well equipped physically and mentally for everyday life as well as their futures. 


The Shukokai Karate Academy promotes a high level of discipline, ambition, respect and perseverance.  Instructors fully back their students whether it be through involvement in competitive karate or through learning Martial Arts as a hobby day to day.

Sensei Katie earns EKF Southern Region Assistant Kata Coach

The Shukokai Karate Academy are extremely proud to announce that after a long selection process, Sensei Katie Simpson, 4th Dan, has now been appointed by the EKF (English Karate Federation) to be the Assistant Southern Region Kata coach. 


This is a great honour and responsibility for Sensei Katie who has had much success in competitive Karate throughout her 25 years of training and now turns her focus to coaching the next generation. Sensei Katie is looking forward to working with Sensei Nariman Jeddi, Colin Smith and the rest of the English Karate Kata coaching team, who aim to promote and encourage the success of Kata amongst karateka in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

sammy wins kata bronze - English Kyu Grades 2020

Well done goes to Sam Purfit who won 3rd place in the Kata at the English Karate Federations Kyu Grade Championships 2020 He also placed 8th in his Kumite category of 47 competitors.

Well done also goes to Daniel, Paige, Oliver, Advik, Avanni, Amelia, Olivia, Ethan P, Ethan L, Mathew, Noah, Micha and Sam P.

You all did SKA proud, just missing out on medals this time, but the future is very bright for you all, they will come, Osu.

Sensei Chris Simpson, 4th Dan Black Belt, has trained in Shukokai Karate for over 20 years. Sensei Chris brings a wealth of experience to the Shukokai Karate Academy. Sensei Chris is DBS checked and First Aid trained and is an English Karate Federation qualified Judge.

Sensei Katie Simpson, 4th Dan Black Belt,  has trained in Shukokai Karate for over 25 years. Sensei Katie brings a wealth of experience and her World and European titles to the Shukokai Karate Academy. Sensei Katie is a PE Teacher at in Maidstone, is DBS checked, First Aid trained and an EKF accredited coach.

Sensei Steve 2nd Dan has over 10 years of training experience with Sensei Chris and Sensei Katie and opened his SKA Sutton Valence Dojo in November 2018. Sensei Steve has won Veterans Shukokai World and European Kumite titles. Sensei Steve is DBS checked, First Aid trained and is a qualified English Karate Federation Judge.

Sensei Maria Pereira, 2nd Dan has over 12 years of training experience with Sensei Chris and Sensei Katie. She has competed at many competitions over the years with success at numerous World and European Shukokai championships, she now turns her sights to teaching alongside her father Sensei Steve.
