Sensei Katie joins the regional Kata coaching team in the South of England, Sensei Nariman Jeddi Head Kata Coach & Sensei Colin Smith assistant. The team will coach EKF students at regional level with a hope of them reaching the National squad. We wish Sensei Katie success in her role.

We are an outstanding Karate academy based in Maidstone Kent, we teach children from aged 4yrs all the way to Adults. We have students and instructors who have titles of World and European Karate Champion! We are affiliated to the English Karate Federation, all of our instructors and assistants are DBS checked and first aid trained.
Our classes are fun and friendly and there is a real family atmosphere in all that we do, students all club together to support each other in their training and lifelong friendships are made through hard work and dedication.
We have stayed strong over lockdown offering our members free Zoom Karate classes for over 5 months! We are now back in the Dojo where socially distanced bookable classes continue to develop our students.
We are proud of all SKA England students as they all represent us with great honour and respect.

Sensei Chris Simpson, 4th Dan Black Belt, has trained in Shukokai Karate for over 20 years. Sensei Chris brings a wealth of experience to the Shukokai Karate Academy, his organisational skills as well as caring nature means that our association is run with the utmost care, consideration and professionalism possible.
Sensei Chris is DBS checked and First Aid trained and is an English Karate Federation qualified Judge.
Sensei Katie Simpson, 4th Dan Black Belt, has trained in Shukokai Karate for over 25 years. Sensei Katie brings a wealth of experience and her World and European titles as well as her title of EKF Southern Region, Assistant Kata Coach to the Shukokai Karate Academy. Sensei Katie is a PE Teacher in Maidstone.
Sensei Katie is DBS checked, First Aid trained and an English Karate accredited coach.
Sensei Steve Pereira, 2nd Dan Black Belt has over 12 years of training experience with Sensei Chris and Sensei Katie and successfully opened his SKA England Sutton Valence Dojo in November 2018. Sensei Steve has won Veterans Shukokai World and European Kumite titles and brings a wealth of experience to the association.
Sensei Steve is DBS checked, First Aid trained and is a qualified English Karate Federation Judge.
Sensei Maria Pereira, 2nd Dan black Belt, has over 12 years of training experience with Sensei Chris and Sensei Katie. She has competed at many competitions over the years with success at numerous World and European Shukokai championships, she now turns her sights to teaching alongside her father Sensei Steve.
Sensei Maria is DBS checked and First Aid trained.
Sensei Dennis Mlambo, 1st Dan Black Belt, has many, many years experience in Shukokai Karate. Sensei Dennis currently working in China and on his return will open his club again in Dartford.

Luke Carpenter, 2nd Dan, has been training with the Shukokai Karate Academy for over 12 years. He has a wealth of experience both Nationally and Internationally.
SKA England Coach Luke is DBS checked and is an English Karate accredited coach.
David Pereira, 2nd Dan Black Belt has been training with the Shukokai Karate Academy for over 12 years. David has a wealth of knowledge in Kumite and Kata and brings much experience to assist Sensei Maria and Sensei Steve at the Sutton Valence Dojo.
Marie Worton, 1st Dan Black Belt, has been training with the Shukokai Karate Academy for over 6 years. Marie assists Sensei Katie at the Downswood Dojo and is DBS checked.
Sam Purfit, Junior Shodan, has been training with the Shukokai Karate Academy for over 7 years. Sam assists Sensei Katie at the Downswood Dojo Junior class and trains in the Senior classes. Sam has medalled at EKF National competitions.
We are very proud to announce that we have been awarded the “Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts”, which has the support of Sport England. Here at the Shukokai Karate Academy we take the safeguarding of children and vulnerable persons very seriously and have worked hard to obtain this.

Well done goes to Sam Purfit who won 3rd place in the Kata at the English Karate Federations Kyu Grade Championships 2020 He also placed 8th in his Kumite category of 47 competitors.
